So I've been looking into Howard Dean as a candidate.
I'm thinking democrat because I can't stand Shrub. I more strongly identify with the republicans, but my real ideological background is libertarian. I'm all about shrinking the government. It may seem like a naive thing, but I simply think that we have way too much gubmint. It gets in the way of almost every aspect of living in america, and then some. Look at what our gubmint has got up to just this year.
There's lots of people out there wanna grow the government: dems wanna grow it by like 23%, the reps only 18%, but it's still growth. When is someone going to stand up and say "I want to get the government a little more OUT of people's lives."?
Like, I've seen people on
Goblinbox talk about Dean, and he's done an excellent job making himself known on the 'net. But if you look at his website, some of the rhetoric just gimme the heebie-jeebies. This, for example, is from his
Homeland Security position page:
Governor Dean has long advocated reversing President Bush's irresponsible tax cuts to fund more pressing needs of the country, such as universal health care. In addition, Dean would use these funds to establish a Homeland Defense Trust Fund to fund his comprehensive three-circle homeland defense strategy.
But really, he makes it all plain with his plan on
fiscal responsibility
